Who you think I am does not change who God Is Transforming me into.” ~Chanelle A. Watson
Have you ever noticed that when people really don’t know us they tend to label us, or if they KNEW who we WERE, they still identify us with our past?
Whether the label is good or bad, or if it’s one we are excited to hear or not, who anyone thinks we are, does not have any weight on who God Is continually Transforming us into. This holds true especially if we belong to God AND we are allowing Him to do a Good Work within us.
Recently, I had a conversation with someone and what we remember from our last encounter (some time ago) was of the past. Past hurts, past interactions, past situations, and past labels we put on one another because we really didn’t know each other. In our present day experience, we realized God had Transformed us from what we knew to what we are relearning about who each of us is. God Transforms us, if we let Him.
The bible speaks of many scriptures that attest to God continually Transforming us:
Romans 12:2 (NLT): “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s Will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT): “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
Philippians 2:13 (NLT): “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”
God Transforms us, if we let Him and His Power to Transform is continual.
You may be thinking, “Yes!” if what someone thinks of me is negative or from my past, that does not change who God Is Transforming me into but Chanelle, why not accept the good label, especially if I am okay with it? I just say, be cautious of any label we accept from others because it can limit the work God has done, is doing, our will do in our lives. Because He is continually Transforming us, even a good label can keep us at “Great” and postpone us from letting God bring us to “Extraordinary.”
Today, I encourage you, and myself, to embrace God and His Power to Transform us. The bible tells us, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” Philippians 1:6 (NLT)Let God Keep working in and through you for His Glory. God will Transform us, if we let Him.
Stay Encouraged!
