“Sometimes in order to SEE what is directly in front of us, we need to take a step back.”
~ Chanelle A. Watson
Have you ever noticed that the best place for someone or something to hide is right in front of our face. Often, we don’t notice what is directly in front of us. For whatever reason, we may be unfocused or may be looking beyond what or who is really there. We may go searching for an object at home and end up turning the whole place upside down to realize that if we would have just taken a step back, what we were looking for was right in front of us. We may have friends, associates, coworkers, boy/girlfriends etc. that have been with us from the beginning, they may be on board with everything we do, they may wish us well, they may be the best thing since sliced bread but some times our mind gets so clouded that we may not be focused on who or what is actually standing right in front of us. Is who they are or what they give off aligned with where we are going in life and where God is taking us?
Today, I encourage you and myself to take a step back, so we can really see what or who is directly in front of us.
Sometimes that small step back is the difference between transformation and complacency, or seeing a friend versus seeing the enemy. This is not to say that everyone who supports us is not really for us, I’m just saying sometimes we have to take a step back and see a situation or person for what it really is and not who we may want it or them to be. Sometimes in order to really find ourselves we have to take a step back from who we may be pretending to be or who people assume we are.
“Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you. Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.”
~ Proverbs 4:23-28 (ESV)
Until next week, KEEP GOING and STAY ENCOURAGED because your VICTORY is already WON!
